Position Summary:

The Assistant Box Office Manager assists the Box Office Manager with daily operations, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and welcoming experience for all patrons. This position helps maintain a positive workplace culture, delivers exceptional customer service, and supports the implementation of box office policies and procedures that align with the theater’s mission to provide high-quality, intimate performances at accessible prices. Reports directly to the Box Office Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ticketing Operations

  • Maintain and troubleshoot ticketing software and hardware.
  • Data management and ongoing education in Tessitura to ensure effective customer service, assist with patron development and improve staff operations.
  • Contact point for ticket donation requests.
  • Provide ticketing support to senior staff, including Director of Public Relations and Strategic Partnerships, and oversee Impact Club and Advocacy program ticketing needs.

Customer Service

  • Create a customer service culture such that patrons have a high quality, intimate and happy experience.
  • Collect, analyze, and organize information from Box Office interactions to inform marketing, development, and patron experience strategies.

Staff Supervision and Training

  • Help train and supervise part-time box office staff and volunteers
  • Monitor staff performance and assist with scheduling and shift coverage
  • Serve as acting manager in the absence of the Box Office Manager.

Communication

  • In conjunction with the Box Office Manager, coordinate with front-of-house, production and development teams to ensure seamless patron experience and provide accurate event information.

Sales & Marketing Support

  • Conduct outbound sales campaigns targeting key audience segments.
  • Support development of and assist with promotional campaigns and special ticketing offers.
  • Expected to work some weekends, evening hours and holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Passion for theater.
  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with the standard operations of a performing arts center box office and front of house.
  • Cheerful and friendly with a highly personable and customer service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a professional, diplomatic and mature manner with patrons, artists, staff, donors, partners and visitors at all levels, both in writing and in person.
  • Ability to calmly and efficiently adjust to new procedures, systems, or schedule changes.
  • Ability to stay composed under pressure, have a good attitude, and execute expectations keeping priorities and business needs in mind.
  • Effective telephone, computer, organizational and management skills.
  • Collaboration, time management, problem solving, attention to details and multi-tasking.
  • Accounting/cash management procedures.
  • Tessitura experience preferred.
