Child Guardian
Reports to: Wardrobe Supervisor
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
Position Type: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-exempt
Position Summary:
The Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater is seeking a responsible and caring Child Guardian to ensure the safety and well-being of young performers during rehearsals, performances, and related activities. The Child Guardian will provide supervision, support, and assistance to children on stage, ensuring they are comfortable and that their needs are met in a professional and nurturing manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervision and Care:
- Provide constant supervision and care for young performers during all theater activities, including rehearsals, performances, and backstage time.
- Ensure that children are in a safe environment and adhere to all theater safety protocols.
- Address any needs or concerns of the children in a timely and compassionate manner.
Coordination and Communication:
- Work closely with the Stage Manager, Director, and other production staff to ensure that the needs of the children are communicated and met.
- Assist with coordinating transportation and schedule logistics for young performers as required.
- Maintain clear communication with parents or guardians regarding the schedule and any relevant updates.
Support During Rehearsals and Performances:
- Assist children with costume changes, makeup, and other preparations before and during performances.
- Help manage downtime and activities for children to keep them engaged and comfortable.
- Provide support and reassurance to children, especially during stressful or unfamiliar situations.
Health and Safety:
- Monitor and address any health or safety concerns for the children under your supervision.
- Ensure that all children are familiar with emergency procedures and are prepared for any unexpected situations.
- Maintain a clean and organized area for children to rest and prepare during theater activities.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous Experience working with children, preferably in a theater or performance setting.
- Strong understanding of child safety and welfare practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as required by production schedules.
- Certification in first aid and CPR preferred.
- Background check clearance required.
