Follow the Yellow Brick Road to The Wizard of Oz
Follow the yellow brick road to The Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater and experience The Wizard of Oz on stage this spring. The Wizard of Oz is a family favorite, and The Ruth invites audiences of all ages to experience the beloved classic in a vibrant new production filled with dazzling, yet familiar visuals, unforgettable music, and a heartfelt reminder of what truly matters.
Directed by Ashley Carlson, this reimagined journey to Oz brings fresh energy to the timeless story of Dorothy and her friends as they search for courage, heart, and wisdom, only to discover those gifts have been within them all along.
“The Wizard of Oz carries great philosophies,” says Carlson. “Everyone has a brain, everyone has a heart, and everyone has courage. These are the gifts that are given when you are born, and if you use these properly, you’ll reach the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, which is home.”
“Home isn’t a house,” she adds. “It’s people who love you and that you love. That’s a home. We could all do to remember that when life feels hard, if you have love, you already have everything you need.”
The Ruth’s production of The Wizard of Oz brings to the stage everything audiences love about the classic production and promises a few surprises only possible through the magic of live theater. Come journey with The Ruth from Kansas to the dazzling sites of the Emerald city through a celebration of the enduring magic of friendship, resilience, and belonging.
